Before Daesh attacked the town of Shingal in Sinjar in August 2014, more than 80,000 people lived in the city, mostly belonging to the religious minority of the Yazidis.
Since the city was freed again from Daesh 15 months later, over 70 percent of the buildings are still destroyed or heavily damaged.
So far, the drinking water has to been delivered to Shingal by trucks, because the water supply remains destroyed.
Likewise the power grid hasn't been repaired yet; generators are used to produce electricity.
There is no hospital in Shingal yet, only an outpatient emergency care.
Many personal belongings and possessions of the former residents were looted and stolen from their homes.
Only a few former residents from Shingal have so far returned, their future is uncertain.
