On the northern edge of the Sinjar Mountains lies one of the holiest places of the Yazidis: the 800-year-old Sharfadin Temple.
Anyone who comes to this place as a visitor is impressed by the peacefulness.
When Daesh invaded Sinjar in the summer of 2014 and committed the genocide against the Yazidis, a small group of Yazidis, led by Qasim Shesho, managed to successfully defend this sacred place and save it from destruction by Daesh.
